CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – The Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict of General Nakar, Quezon did it again when they were able to facilitate the recovery of NPA war material on the afternoon of September 28, 2021.
Troops of the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 2nd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army at 3:00 p.m. that day recovered a New People’s Army ammunition cache at Sitio Madaraki, Barangay Umiray of the said municipality.
The recovery of the said rebel’s cache was a result of an information that was divulged to the Peace Law Enforcement and Development (PLEDS) Cluster jointly manned by 1st IB and the local police directly under the supervision of the MTF-ELCAC GNQ presently chaired by the mayor, Honorable Eliseo R Ruzol Sr.
The inventory of the rebel’s ammunition cache included 15 Anti-Tank Mines; 20 Anti-Personnel Mines, and 340 rounds of Caliber .30 machine gun ammunition. The said munitions are all very powerful and could have had a very debilitating effect on anyone to include and especially the civilians in the area when fabricated into an improvised explosive device or IED.
The use of IEDs is a clear manifestation that the CPP/NPA terrorists continue to violate the International Humanitarian Law by insisting on the use explosives which can result in unnecessary damage to property and loss of lives including innocent civilians. When it explodes, it does not choose its victims, whether uniformed men or barrio folk. Yet despite the call for them to refrain from using such weapons, they continue to manufacture IEDs that wantonly show their violent and inhumane nature.
Mayor Ruzol Sr. further encouraged his constituents to continue supporting the peace efforts of the government saying, “Sa akin pong mga minamahal na kababayan, akin pong nais hilingin ang inyong patuloy na suporta para sa programang pangkapayaan. Suportahan po ninyo ang ating Municipal Task Force-ELCAC para makamit na natin ang kapayapaan dito sa ating bayan”.
