Army's 38IB confiscated homemade firearms in Sarangani

Soldiers seize 42 firearms in Sarangani
Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – July 2, 2021 Military troops seized a total of 42 firearms in the focused military operations launched in Maitum, Sarangani Province on July 1, 2021.
“Based on the report from the ground, while troops of the 38th Infantry Battalion were operating in barangays Batian and Zion, all of Maitum, they confiscated 42 homemade shotguns from various personalities,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command.
According to Col. Eduardo Gubat, Commander, 603rd Infantry Brigade, the firearms were recovered from the possession of personalities believed to be members of “Militiang Bayan” under Platoon West, Guerilla Front Musa, Far South Mindanao Region.
“Our troops are currently conducting dialogue with the villagers so that they will not anymore be deceived,” Col. Gubat stated.
The confiscated firearms were brought to 38IB headquarters in Kamanga, Maasim, Sarangani Province for safekeeping.
“Our aggressive drive against terrorism and lawlessness continues. This proactive measure is done to preempt the terror plots and criminal activities of the malefactors,” said Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Commander of Joint Task Force Central.
Troops continue to conduct clearing operations.
“As we sustain the momentum, we urge the peace-loving people Mindanao to take steps and support us in our journey towards the attainment of lasting peace and sustainable development in the region,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.
