ILOILO CITY, May 26 (PIA) -- Tired and hungry for always being on the run, a 60-year old member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) surrendered to the forces of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Army at Sitio Canapay, Brgy. Caridad, Culasi, Antique about 5:30 p.m. of May 21, 2021.Identified as alias Lito, who is a former member of Northern Front-Komiteng Rehiyon Panay, the 60-year old surrenderer is married and a resident of Sebaste, Antique, said Police Regional Office 6 Public Information Officer Lt. Col. Joem Malong in a press release.
She said that Lito was listed in the 1990 Order of Battle (OB) of AFP operating in Antique area.
Lito revealed that he is one of those who were responsible in incidents initiated by the CPP-NPA in Antique like the harassment of the CAFGU detachment at Brgy. Bitadton, Culasi, Antique in 1986; commandeered a 10-wheeler truck loaded with prime commodities at Brgy. Naba, Culasi, Antique; and joined in an armed encounter against the 47th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army sometime in 1996 at Bitadton, Culasi, Antique.
Lito voluntarily surrendered to the personnel of Culasi Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit of Antique, Regional Intelligence Unit 6 operatives and Regional Intelligence Division operatives, ISOD IG, RSOG NCRPO, Mandaluyong City Police Station, 2nd APMFC, Maritime Police and Intel Operative (COLT1) of 61st Infantry Battalion-Philippine Army, which jointly facilitated his surrender.
Lito also surrendered one homemade .38 revolver with four live ammunitions and 10 live ammunitions of .60 caliber machine gun.
The surrender of alias Lito is a result of the community-based programs and activities relative to the implementation of EO 70 or the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict and through the Community Support Program in the area.
Alias Lito will be endorsed to receive assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to help him in his return to the society.
Surrendered CTG is presently under the custody of Culasi Municipal Police Station for custodial debriefing prior to his turn over to Antique Police Provincial Office, Malong said. (PIA6/RPIO-PRO6)
