CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur – Persistent security operations of the Army in Bicol continues to bring big blows in the now waning firepower and manpower of Communist NPA.

At around 10:00 in the morning of May 26, 2021, another communist NPA terrorist (CNT) killed and abandoned by his comrades after an armed skirmish between the rebels and government troops transpired in Sitio Castilla, Barangay Napolidan, Lupi, Camarines Sur.

According to the report, the 9th Infantry Battalion (9IB) received an information from the residents about the presence of Communist NPA members in the area in which the troops immediately follow through.

At least 15 Communist NPA were encountered by the troops who after a fierce gun fight, scurried towards different directions.

An M16 rifle and four anti-personnel mines were also captured from the encounter site.

Lt. Col. Emerson Sumilang, Battalion Commander, 9IB said that the explosives captured from Communist NPA only validate the terrorist group’s heinous crimes and methods of terrorizing peaceful communities.

Thus, he already directed his troops to continue scouring the area to thwart any other terrorist acts the rebels are planning to carry out.

Meanwhile, Col. Jaime Abawag Jr., Commander of 902nd Infantry Brigade, called on the NPA members to consider their families and return to the fold of the law.
Furthermore, Maj. Gen. Henry A. Robinson, Jr., Commander, Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) stressed that communist insurgency has long been a cause of terrorism and loss of lives.

“To NPA members, look at what your comrades are doing. You give your life to a terrorist group that doesn’t even look back on when you are wounded or suffer death. They event can’t return you to your families. The government is here to help you start anew,” Maj. Gen. Robinson said.

JTF Bicolandia consider these scores as proofs of the lives wasted because of communist insurgency. CPP-NPA are now losing fight especially that the Bicolanos are publicly denouncing the terrorist group’s violence and illegal acts.

Remarkably, even before the first half of 2021 ends, a whopping 111 CPP=NPA members and supporters from different provinces of Bicol already surrendered to the government along with various firearms.

Moreover, 36 yielded to the 902nd Infantry Brigade who were recently presented to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Committee and the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) on May 15, 2021.

The Army and police also conducted series of successful operations which include the seizure of 53 huge anti-personnel mines in Lagonoy last April preempting CTG’s plan to hurl terroristic attacks against the government troops and innocent civilians.
