Some 314 projects amounting to P1.48 billion will be implemented in the provinces of Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental, and the cities of Bacolod, Iloilo, Cadiz, San Carlos, Himamaylan, Victorias, and Escalante.
The project scopes included farm to market roads, schools buildings, health stations, assistance to indigent families, water and sanitations systems, electrification, agricultural, livelihood technical trainings, COVID-19 vaccination and health-related projects, and reconstruction projects in connection with the occurrence of natural disasters and crises resulting from insurgencies.
Araneta shared that the barangays shall submit their requests along with the documentary requirements to the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) for assessment.
“The RTF ELCAC will endorse the eligible and compliant requests from the barangays to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). The DBM will process the release of fund upon the endorsement of the RTF-ELCAC. Funds shall be released by the Bureau of Treasury to the provincial/city governments where the barangays are situated,” he explained.
Araneta clarified that should the provincial or city government be technically incapable to implement the projects, it will be assumed by the national government or the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Engineering Brigade.
