From Kalinaw News (Feb 10, 2021): JTFC Wages Intensified Military Operations Against Peace Spoilers in South Upi, Maguindanao



CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Troops belonging to the 57th Infantry Battalion of the 6th Infantry (KAMPILAN) Division conducted continuous intensified focused military operations against lawless elements in South Upi, Maguindanao on February 9, 2021.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Pondanera, Commanding officer of 57IB led the operations in Brgy Pilar of the said municipality driving out the terrorist group that continuously disrupting the peaceful lives of the people in South Upi.

Aside from the ground troops clearing the area, attack helicopters from the Philippine Airforce were utilized to eliminate remnants of the extremists group responsible in the attacks of the communities in South Upi, Maguindanao.

Terrorist Group from the BIFF, burned Houses when they harassed residents of said municipality in the dawn of new year January 1, 2021.

Major General Juvymax Uy, Commander of 6ID and JTFC directed the government forces to go after the suspects, return the displaced families to their communities, and secure them; while continuously provide avenues to resolve problems of disputing parties that causes the conflict in the area.“Our relentless, intensified focused military operation is aimed to drive away terrorist groups from the area of South Upi, hence I urge the residents to immediately report any presence of armed lawless groups in South Upi; the safety of the people and the communities of South Upi is paramount in our mission” Maj. Gen. Uy stressed.
