Two cargo aircraft of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) have made a second relief sortie, carrying food and other supplies to typhoon-battered Catanduanes province.
In a statement on Wednesday, PAF spokesperson, Lt. Col. Aristides Galang, said a C-295 medium transport aircraft, carrying 530 boxes of food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), took off from Villamor Air Base, Pasay City for Catanduanes at about 12: 30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, another C-130 aircraft carrying 200 boxes of bottled water from the Office of Civil Defense, 14 boxes of assorted goods from the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson, 553 food packs from the DSWD, 1,000 sacks of food from volunteer non-government organization Go Share, and six boxes of personal protective equipment (PPE) sets from the PAF, took off from Villamor Air Base at about 3:08 p.m.
Both aircraft safely arrived in Catanduanes with the relief goods on Tuesday afternoon.
The first sortie of PAF aircraft took place on Tuesday morning, with a C-130 and a C-295 making relief flights to Albay and Catanduanes, carrying with them food, rescue, and communication equipment, water, beds, and PPE sets.
"Rest assured that your PAF will continuously provide assistance and support to help our fellow countrymen, especially those that have been at the center of this recent calamity," Galang said.
