IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON- Tired of giving revolutionary taxes, local populace reported New People’s Army (NPA) extortionist which resulted to a series of encounters at Barangay Manalog, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

On November 26, 2020, a clash happened when troops of the 43rd Division Reconnaissance Company, which is operationally controlled by the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion (8IB), responded to the calls of the civilians and subsequently encountered approximately 30 communist NPA terrorists under Guerilla Front 89, Sub-Regional Committee 2, North Central Mindanao Regional Command. The clash resulted in the seizure of one (1) M16 rifle, two (2) rifle grenades, one (1) improvised explosive device, one (1) bandolier, three (3) back packs, two (2) cooking pots, two (2) burners, 150-meters wire, assorted medicines, and subversive documents.

No one was injured among the army during the clash while bloodstains were left by the wounded NPA members along their routes of withdrawal. The Army troopers are still pursuing the NPAs to prevent them from victimizing innocent civilians in the area.


Lt. Col Edgardo V Talaroc Jr, Commanding Officer of the 8IB thanked the constituents of Brgy Manalog for reporting such terroristic acts and for cooperating to end local armed conflict. Talaroc, Jr further said, “Kini nga yunit magpadayon sa paghanting sa mga NPA nga terorista aron maluwas ang komunidad sa ilang teroristang pagpangilad ug pagpahimulos.” (This unit will continue to hunt the NPA terrorists to save the community from their terroristic deceptions and exploitations.)

“Kini nga brigade walay hunong nga magpadayon sa iyang pag paningkamot aron malikayan ang pagpangilkil sa mga NPA ug uban pang mga teroristang buhat. Dugang pa, gipangayo sa brigade ang inyong suporta alang sa kanunay nga pagdagayday sa kasayuran,” said Brigade General Ferdinand T Barandon, 403rd Brigade Commander. (This brigade will relentlessly continue its effort to prevent NPA extortions and other terroristic acts. Further, we ask for your continued support for the continuous flow of information.)

It can be recalled that on November 19, 2020 two (2) encounters also happened in the hinterlands of Brgy Manalog.
