The “Bangon Calugusan: A School Renovation Project” aims to revive the old Calugusan Elementary School, establish a playground for children, and put on track a functioning educational system in the community. During the decade-long clan war or Rido, the school was abandoned by teachers and pupils due to instability of peace and order situation. Now that the rido was settled, families went back to their homes and parents hope that their children will be able to go back to school once again.

Mayor Nursiya I. Ismael of Lantawan Municipality also committed to provide chairs and tables for the school, while Hon. Nuraisa Hadjirul, the Barangay Chairwoman, also committed to augment other materials needed for the completion of the project. “Peace cannot be delayed”, BGen. Suchianco said. “We hope to make a difference to the lives of the children, to the community, and inspire others to do so”, he added.

The community extends its utmost thanks to the donor, the military, local government unit, and other stakeholders who worked hand-in-hand to make this project possible.

Also present in the activity were Mrs. Sarha I. Ahmad, the District Supervisor of DepEd Lantawan, Col. Patrick B. De Villa, Atty. Dimples Suchianco, and other local leaders, partners, and stakeholders.
