Tired and weary, a communist terrorist group squad leader returned to the fold of law at Purok 5, Barangay Laperian, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur at 1:30 p.m., October 9, 2020.“The successful surrender was through the efforts of the operating and intelligence units of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan led by Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander.
The surrendered personality was identified as Marino Daano Anlas, a.k.a Victor/IP Man, 29, single, and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Bagumbayan, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte.
“He was the squad leader of the 1st squad of the communist terrorist group operating in Zamboanga Peninsula area,” said Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander.
During the initial debriefing, Victor revealed that he yielded due to the hardship he experienced while in the underground organization.
“Victor said that the organization failed to comply with their promises to the members,” said Maj. Gen. Ponio.
Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. acknowledged the positive gesture of support the military gets from the stakeholders and civilians in the campaign against terrorism in Southern Philippines.
