A notorious paramilitary henchman in Western Samar province was killed in an ambush by the New People’s Army in Matuginao town last September 28. Killed in the NPA offensive was Carlos Diaz, member of local paramilitary group Dos notorious for carrying out extrajudicial killings.
Investigations ordered by the local People’s Court have found Diaz responsible for the murder of civilians Abong de la Cruz of Brgy. Nagpapacao, a certain “Bobi” of Brgy. Rizal, and a young female victim. Diaz also actively recruited for the CAFGU, and as an active member of the paramilitary group Dos, carried out vicious killings in the name of Matuguinao ex-mayor and military intelligence agent Aran Boller.
Boller, whom Diaz served as a personal bodyguard for, was himself found by investigations as being the criminal mastermind of at least 18 murders and other crimes. Despised by the people of Matuguinao, Boller recently gathered the barangay captains and demanded that they stop the spread of a song which mocked him, making it very popular among the masses.
The people of Matuguinao rejoice at the successful tactical offensive of the NPA-AOC which they consider as justice served. This successful military action serves as a reminder to the human rights violators among the AFP, PNP and their paramilitary goons that their crimes against the people will not go unpunished.#
