Two members of the communist terrorist group were killed in an encounter which transpired in the evening of September 4.

While conducting pursuit operations, troops of the 37th Infantry Battalion chanced upon more or less 20 communist terrorist group members at the boundary of Barangay Sta. Clara and Datu Ito Indong in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

A firefight ensued which lasted for five minutes after which enemy withdrew bringing along their casualties with them.

"Our troops are still in pursuit of the fleeing enemies," said Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, JTF Central Commander.

While clearing the encounter site, troops recovered two enemy cadavers, one M16 rifle, one shotgun, two magazines, IED triggering device, medical kits, and propaganda materials.

"While we intensify our focused operations, we call on the communities to be more vigilant and immediately report any suspicious person or object in your locality," said Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander.

"Let us continue to converge for the attainment of lasting peace and sustainable development in the region," he added.
