BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental – Another milestone for the 3 former rebels who returned to the folds of the law received financial assistance through the Provincial Task Force Balik-Loob of the Province of Negros Occidental at the Governors’ Office, Provincial Capitol Building, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on July 27, 2020.

Alias “Ka Roy”, a full time party member of Local Guerrilla Unit (LGU) and Chairman of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) in Central Negros who voluntarily surrendered on April 16, 2020 bringing with him an M16 Rifle and Caliber .45 pistol received an amount with a total of One Hundred Ten Thousand Pesos (PhP110,000.00), alias “Ka Dodong”, a Political Instructor of SDG Platoon, Central Negros 2 who voluntarily surrendered on June 14, 2020 with his Caliber .45 received a total amount of Sixty Thousand Pesos (PhP60,000.00), while alias ”Ka Lara” wife of Ka Dodong and a former NPA Medical Officer has received Thirty Thousand Pesos (PhP30,000.00) with an over-all total amount of Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP200,000.00) as their immediate and livelihood cash assistance and firearms remuneration. Source of fund for subsidy of former rebels comes from the 2020 Provincial Peace and Order Fund under the Office of the Governor facilitated by the Office of the Provincial Administrator. These 3 former rebels personally surrendered to 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion, Philippine Army under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Melvin N Flores, Commanding Officer.

The awarding of financial assistance was attended by Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, Commander, 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade, Philippine Army and Lieutenant Colonel Flores is an initiative of the local government officials of the Province of Negros Occidental under Gov. Hon. Eugenio Jose V. Lacson with the approval of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC). This is a tangible implementation of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Executive Order Number 70: Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace, creating a National Task force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, and directing the adoption of a National Peace Framework.

“Kami sa Gobyerno padayonon namon ang commitment nga gin hatag sang gobyerno para buligan kamo, so I hope ina nga kantidad nga nabaton nyo mapuslan nyo gid para sa inyo nga padayon nga pag bag-o (We at the Government will continue the commitment given by the government to help you, so I hope that the amount you get will be very useful for your normal living),” said Gov. Lacson who wholeheartedly welcomed the former rebels.

“Nagapasalamat gid kami kay Governor Lacson kag sa iban pa nga mga lokal nga opisyal sa probinsya sang Negros Occidental kag sa mga kasuldadohan sa ila nga tudo nga suporta sa pariha namon nga nag balik sa sabak sa gobyerno, ug sa iban nga mga LGU nga nag tabang namo naga pasalamat kami ug dako. Sa mga kauban nako nga active pa nga nakig-away sa gobyerno maayo nga magbalik na mo sa sabak sa gobyerno kay klaro ug tataw (We are very grateful to Governor Lacson and other local officials in the province of Negros Occidental, to the military for their full support to us who have returned to the government, and to other LGUs who extended their support we thank you very much. To our comrades who are still actively fighting the government, it is good for you to go back in the mainstream society beacuse the government program is true and they are sincere of helping us),” cried “Ka Dodong” who was overwhelmed on the blessings they received.

“We are very grateful to Negros Occidental Provincial Task force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) for this wholistic efforts, and to the NPAs who are still in the mountains, it is now the right time for you to stop fighting against our government, especially to NPA Leaders here in Negros encourage your armed group and supporters, return to your respective families, our government can give you a lot of help, beside of this effort of the Local Government Units you still have benefits from the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP. Let's work together for more development in the island of Negros in a peaceful way,“ appealed by Lieutenant Colonel Flores to active NPA members and its mass supporters.
