Military authorities in Central Mindanao have recognized the contribution of local government executives in the campaign against criminality, terrorism, and lawlessness and their support for peace and development programs.

“We value your contribution, especially in our efforts to save lives and make our communities safe for our people,” said Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, commander of the 6th Infantry Division (6ID), as he handed over a plaque of recognition to North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco on Thursday.

Carreon presented the governor with a plaque of recognition and the “6ID Kampilan Box” in recognition of her invaluable contribution to the mission accomplishments of the military unit, during rites held at the 6ID headquarters in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Catamco said she was honored by the recognition.

“Outside the battlefield, there are many ways of manifesting your bravery and heroism without shedding blood or sacrificing your life," she said.

The 6ID operates in the provinces of Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and parts of North Cotabato, Lanao del Sur, and Sarangani.

Earlier, Carreon also awarded plaques of appreciation to Sultan Kudarat Governor Suharto Teng Mangudadatu, Maguindanao Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, and Sarangani Governor Steve Solon.
