Kalinaw News: Ranking NPAs surrender with their high powered firearms to Army and PNP in Aurora Province

Posted to Kalinaw News (Jun 28, 2020): Ranking NPAs surrender with their high powered firearms to Army and PNP in Aurora Province (By 7th Infantry Division)

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – Three (3) ranking NPA leaders under Komiteng Larangan Gerilya Sierra Madre (KLG SM) operating in Aurora Province surrendered with their high powered firearms to the combined elements of the Army’s 91st Infantry Battalion and PNP counterparts from Aurora and Nueva Ecija in a secluded area at Barangay San Isidro, San Luis, Aurora on 27 June 2020.

The firearms surrendered were: two (2) M16 5.56mm rifles and one (1) M653 5.56mm Rifle or baby armalite.

Currently, the surrenderors are being interviewed in an undisclosed area for the processing of their benefits from the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government.

Under E-CLIP they will be receiving PhP15,000.00 initial assistance, PhP50,000.00 livelihood assistance and PhP50,000.00 firearms remuneration. In addition, they will also be receiving benefits from other government agencies, like skills training from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), legal assistance from the Department of Justice (DOJ), housing from National Housing Authority (NHA), to name a few.

The surrender of the three ranking NPAs is a big blow to the NPA bandit’s KLGSM as it is still reeling from the neutralization of its ranking leaders in 2019.

“This is what we are working, to invite the NPA members to return to the folds of the law and be with their families, instead of fighting in combat and kill each other. This option is better, for after all, we are all Filipinos,” said Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr. PA, Commander of the Army’s 7th Infantry Division, the mother unit of 91IB when he learned about the surrender of the three (3) NPA leaders.

He also congratulated the units involved in the accomplishment and took notice also of the good rapport between 91IB and its PNP counterparts in Nueva Ecija and in Aurora provinces.

Commenting on the accomplishment of the combined elements of Army and PNP, Colonel Andrew D, Costelo, the Commander of 703rd Infantry Brigade that directly supervises 91IB said, “I commend 91IB for its accomplishment and also for the help provided by our PNP counterparts in Nueva Ecija and Aurora provinces.”
