Placer, Surigao del Norte- On May 18, 2020, the 30th Infantry (Python) Battalion continues to provide assistance by delivering Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donated to Government Health Centers of Gigaquit rural health unit and Provincial Health Office of Dinagat Island province.

Said PPEs were donated by the Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Foundation Inc. Three (3) boxes were handed over to PHO Dinagat Island containing four hundred (400) pcs of face masks, four (4) boxes of gloves and twelve (12) pcs of alcohol with dispenser and another one (1) box for RHU Gigaquit with one hundred (100) face masks, four (4) box of gloves and four (4) pcs of dispenser with alcohol.

The two health centers in the provinces of Surigao del Norte and dinagat island are among health units that solely provided free basic healthcare services despite their limited resources.

The handing over of PPE was facilitated by Major Jasper Gacayan, the Executive Officer together with 2LT Benjamin Elisand de Dios, the Civil Military Officer of 30IB to Mr. Rey Costillas, Publice assistant officer on purchasing supplies of PHO Dinagat Island and to Dr. Aimee Lorraine Capinpuyan, the OIC of RHU Gigaquit.

In her statement, Dr. Aimee Lorraine C Capinpuyan, volunteer doctor in RHU expressed her heartful gratitude to the TOWNS and the 30IB of the Philippine Army for ensuring that said needed PPEs for their front liners have reached on to their doorsteps.

Lt Col Ryan Charles Callanta, the Commanding Officer of 30IB said “As we tirelessly work and continue to provide assistance in whatever capacity to mitigate and contain the spread of COVID-19 in the line of ensuring our medical front liners to hace their needed PPEs and equipment. And we also urge everyone to continue to cooperate with the authorities, adhere and observe the provisions and guidelines set by the government in an effort to mitigate the spread/impact of the virus.”
