9 soldiers in battle get medals

From the Visayan Daily Star (May 9, 2020): 9 soldiers in battle get medals

The nine soldiers, who figured in an encounter with suspected New People’s Army rebels last week in Bindoy, Negros Oriental, were conferred Military Commendation Medals on Thursday by Col. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, in recognition of their exemplary actions during the gunbattle.

Pasaporte lauded the bravery and selfless dedication of the 94IB operating troops to secure and protect the community of Bindoy.

The encounter in Brgy. Cambudlas, Bindoy, Negros Oriental on April 30, claimed the lives of two suspected NPA rebels, caused the injury of an Army soldier, as well as recovery of war materials, including a rifle grenade and a 12 gauge shotgun and medical supplies.

Pasaporte said he is hoping that the awarding ceremony will motivate them to do more and perform well in their next mission.

"The medal symbolizes your bravery in facing our enemy and selfless dedication to your oath to protect the people and the country,” he told the medal recipients, whose identities he has withheld.
