Government forces in the Caraga Region convened on Tuesday here to establish the Inter-Agency Task Force-Coronavirus Caraga Shield (IATF-CCS).
The formation of IATF-CCS was led by the PRO-13 director, Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr. together with Brig. Gen. Maurito Licudine of the Army's 402nd Infantry Brigade, Lt. Junior Grade (LTJG) Jesmar Dasas of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Fire Senior Supt. Rommel Tradio, the regional director of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
In a statement on Wednesday, Licudine said the creation of IATF-CCS aims to maintain peace and order, enforce the laws, and provide support to other agencies to contain the spread of the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
"The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will support the Philippine National Police (PNP) while the IATF-CCS is fully activated. AFP units in Caraga are on standby mode awaiting guidance and directives,” Licudine said.
Licudine also asked residents to stay at home to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Esquivel said fighting Covid-19 requires the coordinated approach of the different sectors of the government.
"The IATF-CV Caraga Shield is fully activated now. This is basically about border control to prevent the entry of Covid-19 in the region,” he said in a statement.
He said the task force will also enforce the precautionary measures of local government units (LGUs) in the provincial and municipal levels.
Since Monday, governors, and mayors have already implemented measures to prevent the potential spread of Covid-19 in their respective localities.
Caraga continues to remain free from Covid-19 as of Wednesday, according to the Department of Health-Caraga (DPH-13).
As of Tuesday, DOH-13 said Caraga has eight patients under investigation (PUIs) and 1,459 persons under monitoring (PUMs).
Of the 1,459 PUMs, 93 had already completed their isolation period while 1,366 are still under monitoring and isolation.
