CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Many aspiring army applicants flock the Army Recruitment Office – Mindanao’s recruitment booth during the Static/Kinetic Display and Peace Concert of the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division last January 18-19, 2020 at the Activity Center, Ayala Malls – Centrio, Cagayan de Oro City.
Ariel Pilonggo, 20, who travelled 8 hours from Pikalawag, Sultan Naga Dimapuro, Lanao del Norte said, “Akong tan-aw sa mga sundalo usa ka Bayani. Gusto nako mahimong sama nila aron makatabang sa akong pamilya ilabi na sa katawhan.” (I believe that soldiers are Heroes. I want to become like them and help my family especially the people.)
Sweetsel Mae Abero, 22, a recent board passer of Mechanical Engineering from Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City also expressed, “The soldiers inspire me and every time I see them I am amazed on how they keep our country safe. I have always felt the calling of service and I believe that being a soldier will fulfill that calling.”
The online registration of the ARO-Mindanao is part of the booths of the activity in commemoration of the 50th Founding Anniversary of the 4ID. It is the first step in the application process of becoming Candidate Soldier (CS), Officer Candidate Course (OCC) and Officer Preparatory Course (OPC) trainees. Next steps will be the AFP Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) examination, Army Qualifying Exam (AQE) and Special Written Exam (SWE) for OCC and OPC applicants, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Medical Exams and Interview.
MGen Franco Nemesio Gacal, Commander of 4ID said, “We are happy and we warmly welcome the influx of applicants who aspire to serve our country. The profession of arms is a very noble road to take and serving the people gives us the ultimate happiness.” “We encourage our young generation to apply and become one of us rather than being recruited by terrorist groups. The Philippine Army will surely give you a much more secured future,” Gacal ended
