BALER, Aurora, Jan.9 (PIA) -- A total of 14 rebel returnees in Aurora received financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

10 returnees each got an immediate assistance of PhP15,000 and livelihood assistance of PhP50,000. Four returnees, on the other hand, received aid for surrendering their firearms ranging from Php60,000 to PhP285,000.

Governor Gerardo A. Noveras (6th from right) and Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Ofelio A. Tactac Jr (7th from left) lead the awarding of financial assistance to a total of 14 rebel returnees in Aurora under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program. (DILG Aurora)

“E-CLIP being locally-driven, managed and implemented veers away from the past practice of pre-packaged interventions designed at the national level. It responds to the circumstances, needs and concerns of former rebels through provision of assistance and seeks to consider their basic rights and situations as men and women,” DILG Provincial Director Ofelio A. Tactac Jr explained.

“It provides a wide range of benefits which includes reintegration assistance amounting PhP21,000; firearms remuneration which is double the cost valuation; livelihood materials and implements or employment assistance amounting PhP100,000; housing amounting PhP450,000; medical assistance; legal assistance; and college tuition and stipend,” Tactac added.
