Tago, Surigao del Sur, Dec 26 – A Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) recruiter nabbed in a joint entrapment operation of the elements of Charlie Company of the army’s 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion and Cantilan Municipal Police Station at Brgy Pag-antayan, Cantilan, this province last December 24, 2019, at around 3:30 in the afternoon.
The joint operation resulted in the apprehension of a certain Dante Urbiztondo, 32 years old, a resident of Zone 3, Brgy Poblacion, Lanuza, SDS. Said entrapment operation resulted in the confiscation of one (1) Cal .38 revolver, one (1) hand grenade, Cellular phone, XRM motorcycle and a 5,570 peso cash.
The apprehension is docketed as arrest of person with warrantless arrest for a crime of rebellion, trafficking in persons and violation of RA 10591or illegal possession of firearms.
In an interview, Dante disclosed that he served the armed movement operating in the white area as a recruiter, money collector and a courier of the Communist NPA Terrorist Weakened Guerrilla Front 30 (WGF 30), NEMRC.
The said entrapment was based on the report of the victim, a resident of Cantilan, SDS together with her parents who have complained and reported the said incident to Charlie Company of the 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion that their daughter was being recruited and will be fetched to join with the Communist NPA Terrorist on December 24, 2019.
In his statement, “I was convinced to join the armed movement because of the hardship and bitterness of life. I don’t want to join the NPA but life was so difficult they promised me monetary support and alleviation from poverty. But, I realized that it was all lies, they want us to join the armed struggle for they futile cause,” victim said.
Ltc Jezreel Diagmel, Acting Commanding Officer of the 36IB, said that the entrapment operation is the result of the strengthened and intensified coordination with the PNP as part of our law enforcement support operation.
“The success of our operations is due to the growing support and confidence of the populace to our soldiers and law enforcers. It is notable that the peace-loving people of Surigao del Sur are already awakened on the deceptive recruitment of the Communist NPA Terrorist. Thus, it is evident that the government wins the heart and the trust of the people,” Ltc Diagmel concluded. Arrested CNT recruiter is now in the custody of Cantilan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and filing of appropriate legal charges. (Capt. Jonald Romorosa, CMO, 36IB)
