ORMOC CITY -- An encounter with members of the Communist Terrorist Group, locally known as the Platoon 1, Front 42, Sub Regional Committee, LEVOX, New People’s Army and units under this command, took place at Sitio Tay-ong , Brgy. Pinamonoan, Mahaplag, Leyte, that lasted for about 20 minutes, Friday morning, September 27, 2019.
Second Lieutenant Christopher Noy Noy A. Tanteo, platoon leader of Scout Platoon, 78th Infantry Battalion under Lieutenant Colonel Roberto B. Obaob, responded to a piece of information regarding the presence of communist rebels in Brgy. Pinamonoan, Mahaplag, Leyte.
The operation resulted to no casualty on the government side and undetermined on the enemy side.
Captured items during the encounter include one (1) M16A1 Rifle, 130 rounds of Live Ammunitions (5.56), three (3) Long Magazines for M16, four (4) Short Magazines for M16, one (1) Improvised Explosive Device (IED), one (1) Cellular Phone, one (1) Handheld Radio (Baofeng), Medical Paraphernalia, and Subversive Documents with high intelligence value.
Lieutenant Colonel Obaob said, “It is a good thing the townsfolk reported the presence of the NPA in the area. The people made their stand, they have enough of the terrorism made by the NPA.”
Meanwhile Brigadier General Lope C. Dagoy, Commander of the 802nd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army said, “ I encourage you to heed the call of the communities , lay down your arms and avail of the enhanced integration program of the government and allow the government to resolve the issues of the communities and end of this armed conflict.”
We will actively support the program of the government to peacefully resolve all armed conflicts against-peace loving people of Leyte, Southern Leyte and Biliran. Let us condemn those who advocate violence and use arms," Dagoy added. (802nd IB-8ID, PA/PIA)
