WESTMINCOM: Solar panel, school supplies donated to Sulu school

Posted to the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Sep 1, 2019): Solar panel, school supplies donated to Sulu school

Military officials and members of the Upsilon Sigma Phi turned over one set of a rooftop solar photovoltaic and school supplies and equipment to Kagay Elementary School in Talipao, Sulu on August 31.

“We are here not only to help but also to inspire you (Kagay students). We hope to come back with our projects that will benefit more students in Sulu,” said Brig. Gen. Peter Suchianco,

The Judge Advocate General Reserve. “We will do it together with the AFP and other universities in Manila.” Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Western Mindanao Command, led the turnover of one solar rooftop, two electric fans, two projectors, one laptop, and 345 bags with school supplies to students of Kagay Elementary School today.

He was assisted by Joint Task Force Sulu Commander Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., and Brig. Gen. Suchianco. “A soldier must have the mind of a warrior and the heart of a peacekeeper.

Our coming here has nothing to do with our military operations, but we are here for our peace and development campaign,” said Lt. Gen. Sobejana.

“Let us stand united and turn Sulu from terrorism to tourism.” About 300 students from four barangays in Talipao received said school supplies.

“The turnover of a solar rooftop is a big relief to our constituents. Kahit papaano ay naramdaman ng ating mamamayan na hindi sila iniwan ng gobyerno,” said Talipao Mayor Nivocadnezar Tulawie.

The Department of Energy, represented by Undersecretary Felix William Fuentabella, also helped in the solar power project.

“We are empowered by your donation. I hope you will continue to partner with us in promoting quality education,” said Reckman Abtong, school head of Kagay Elementary School.
