From the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Sep 20, 2019): IED recovered by troops in Maguindanao

An improvised explosive device was recovered by military troops in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao on September 19.

Soldiers scouring the riverside near Butalo Patrol Base of 38th Infantry Battalion discovered said improvised explosive in Barangay Sambulawan, Datu Salibo at 7am yesterday.

Troops from 57th Infantry Battalion immediately responded and cordoned the area.

The improvised explosive was brought to the 38IB headquarters in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat for proper disposal.

Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force Central Commander, said, “This is a commendable feat attributed to the diligence and vigilance of our forces. I laud our troops for their prompt actions that forestalled another bomb attempt of terrorists in the area.”

“We take preemptive and decisive actions to counter attacks employed by terrorists to inflict casualties on civilian and military objects. These preventive measures are complemented by the sustained cooperation of communities and the deliberate and mounting counter-operations and intelligence buildup of our forces in terrorist-infested areas,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Western Mindanao Command.

“I truly commend and salute the diligence and commitment of our frontline troops who are behind our multitudes of operational gains,” he added.
