Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, who attended the command conference yesterday in Cebu, said the ordered was issued by Lt. Gen. Noel Clement, who also recognizes the efforts of the different units in the success of the Central Command overall campaign in the Visayas.
The AFP Central Command recently facilitated the return of 15th and 11th Infantry Battalions from Mindanao to Negros, which is now the focus of the 3rd Infantry Division clearing operations.
Arevalo said he and other commanders in the Visayas were also urged by Clement to help in the efforts of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), which was created to synchronize the utilization of government’s instrumentalities of power, with the capabilities of private sector stakeholders to finally end the 50 year-old insurgency problem.
He also said that local government units also played vital role in the campaign through the delivery of basic services to their respective constituents, especially in the countryside.
The AFP Central Command also gave honors to Maj. Gen. Pio Diñoso, newly-installed commander of the 8th Infantry Division in Samar, Brig. Gen. Alberto Desoyo, 301st Infantry Brigade commander, and Arevalo, who were both promoted recently.
