Cuartero town declares CPP-NPA ‘persona non

From the Philippine Information Agency (Jul 23, 2019): Cuartero town declares CPP-NPA ‘persona non grata’

CUARTERO, Capiz -- The Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) of Cuartero, Capiz has declared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) terrorists as “persona non grata.”

Cuartero chief of police Mary Grace Socorro Borio reveals that the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) of Cuartero, Capiz has declared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front terrorists as “persona non grata.”

In a meeting presided by mayor Tito Mayo, who chairs the MPOC, the council passed and approved a resolution, May 8, denouncing the relentless atrocities made by the terrorist groups.

“The declaration manifests that the CPP-NPA-NDF terrorists are not welcome and has no place in the municipality,” said Cuartero chief of police Mary Grace Socorro Borio.

She added that “it is also an indication that the people of Cuartero are already fed up to the violence, extremism, harassment, extortion and other lawlessness committed by the terrorist group.”

The continued presence of the terrorist group threatens the security and the development in the area, Borio said.

Meanwhile, the Cuartero cops vow to continuously exert effort to ensure peace and order in the locality.

Borio has also urged the support and cooperation of the people as well as of various government agencies and local government officials in the peace and development effort.

“This is the time that we need to stand up for a future that is peaceful and progressive,” she said as she called on everyone to join hands in the war to fight terrorism and insurgency. (JBG/PCpl Sheila Lyn B. Laude/Cuartero Municipal Police Station)
