Army’s 61IB deploys community support teams in Calinog

CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz -- Nine Community Support Program (CSP) teams under the Army’s Community Support Program have been deployed in the different barangays of Calinog, Iloilo.

A send-off ceremony for the CSP teams of the Army’s 61st Infantry Battalion held at Camp Carreon, Barangay Libot, Calinog, Iloilo, July 22, signaled the start of the deployment of teams.



The ceremony was led by 301st Infantry (Bayanihan) Brigade deputy brigade commander Col. Orlando Edralin and Calinog vice mayor Renato Casinao.

Also present during the activity were Tapaz, Capiz Sangguniang Bayan member Regina Fancubilla, Department of Labor and Employment 6 Director II Joselito Dela Banda, Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 assistant regional director Delia Bagolcol, Department of the Interior and Local Government 6 operations officer Francis Oliver Ortiz, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples – Tapaz Tribal Affairs Assistant Ricardo Camarig Jr., Calinog Municipal Police Station chief of Police Major Jose Nemias Pamplona, and Tapaz, Capiz Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Captain Bryant Fallera.

The deployment of the CSP teams is in line with the Development Support and Security Plan “Kapayapaan” of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to conduct development support operations; sustain peace efforts; ensure security; and help maintain public order to foster the foundation for economic and human development.


61st IB commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Joel Benedict Batara said “CSP is our means to help our local government in addressing the peace and security concerns of the communities and to deliver basic government services especially in the far flung and conflict-affected areas. It also aims to bring our government closer to the people.”

Batara added that “the success of every peace-related undertaking lies in the unity of all members of the community; hence I am urging every sector of the society most especially Calinognons to help and support their Army in its quest towards the attainment of sustainable peace and development not only in Calinog but in the whole province of Iloilo.”

For his part, 3rd Infantry Division commander MGen Dinoh Dolina commended the local government unit of Calinog for giving its full support to the Army’s peace initiatives specifically to the CSP.
