2 soldiers wounded during Lanao del Sur clash with NPA

From GMA News Online (Jul 28, 2019): 2 soldiers wounded during Lanao del Sur clash with NPA

Two soldiers were slightly wounded when the Philippine Army's 103rd Infantry "Haribon" Brigade clashed with around 180 communist New People's Army gunmen in Lanao del Sur's Lumba-Bayabao town Sunday morning.

The Army unit launched their operation after locals informed them that the NPA gunmen were training and foraging in the area.

At around 9:15 a.m., Army patrols found a communist outpost and proceeded to take offensive action.

The military believed that the gunmen belonged to the NPA's Guerilla Front 12, which was under the Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) 5.

Brigadier General Romeo Brawner, commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, said that the NPA had no place in Lanao del Norte, and that the military would exhaust every means available to rid the province of their presence and influence.
