From Politiko (Jun 12, 2019): Sara Duterte’s Independence Day wish: An insurgency-free Davao City within 3 years

Reelected Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio said she is eyeing an insurgency-free Davao City in the next three years.
In a statement released on the celebration of the country’s Independence Day, Mayor Duterte has emphasized the role of barangay leaders in ending the decades-long communist rebellion at least in her hometown
The President’s daughter sought the assistance of barangay executives to get rid the city from communist’s armed wing, the New People’s Army (NPA).
“We want to achieve a 100-percent insurgency-free Davao City. That is our target and objective, we need to be united and everyone should understand our way (of doing it) for the next three years,” said Mayor Duterte.
According to Mayor Duterte, the Paquibato district, which piloted Peace 911 program, was declared as insurgency-free after decades of being ruled by the communist movement. She said the city government has been aggressively pursuing peace and development programs to counter and weaken the influence of communist rebels.
The city government has established the Peace 911 to address issues and concerns that the public faced in far-flung villages in the city.
Peace 911 has further expanded its program to 18 other barangays identified as conflict areas due to the presence of the NPA rebels.
