CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao- Twenty seven locally made loose firearms were handed over by the civilian residents of Datu Abdullah Sangki to 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion in a turnover ceremony held at the town’s Municipal Hall on June 15, 2019.

Governor-elect Hon. Bai Mariam S. Mangudadatu presided over the handover of 27 loose firearms to Ltc Alvin G. Iyog, Commanding Officer 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battlion and 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Efren P. Baluyot in a simple rite.

Handed over were one 60mm mortar with one ammo, fourteen 12 gauge shotguns, two Cal .50 sniper rifles, two M79 GL, one Uzi Ingram, one Thompson submachine gun , one carbine, two RPG launcher, two Ingram, one M203 tube and assorted magazines.

“This is just a small note to extend my support in all your undertakings to ensure a peaceful community,” said Hon. Mangudadatu during her speech.

“This endeavor is part of our continuing campaign against proliferation of loose firearms in the Battalion’s area of operation,” said Ltc Iyog.

“We will sustain this campaign and work as a team in cooperation with other local government units in order to achieved peace and development in the area, said Colonel Baluyot.

“Putting our actions together we can do more, we can do better, with more positive results than expected.” Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana, Commander 6th Infantry Division said.

Major General Sobejana also expressed his utmost appreciation to the local chief executive of said town who facilitated the handed over of firearms.
