Bancasi, Butuan City – Twenty-three (23) Former Rebels received Financial Assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of Agusan del Norte in today’s 2nd Quarter Provincial Peace and Order Council Special Meeting held at Raquiza Hall, Balanghai Hotel, Brgy Doongan, Butuan City on June 10, 2019.

A total of two million six hundred thirty three thousand pesos (P2, 633, 000.00) was distributed by the DILG Agusan del Norte for E-CLIP Assistance and one hundred five thousand pesos (P105, 000.00) from the DSWD Financial Assistance for the twenty three (23) FRs who decided to abandon the armed struggle in order to live a peaceful life and start their lives anew thru the government’s local integration program.

Honorable Maria Angelica Rosedell Matba, the outgoing Governor and Chairman of the Peace and Order Council in Agusan del Norte led the awarding of E-CLIP assistance to Former Rebels. She encouraged the FRs to help in the peace efforts in their respective communities and promised full education scholarship to the students/pupils of every FR.

Also present during the meeting were: Hon. Dale P Corvera, the incoming Provincial Governor in the province of Agusan del Norte; Hon. Ramon AG. Bungabong, Provincial Vice Governor and PPOC Vice-Chairman; Director Lilibeth A Famacion, CESO III, Regional Director DILG CARAGA; Director Ellen Vee P Chua, Provincial Director of DILG Agusan del Norte and PPOC Secretariat; Col Maurito L Licudine, Brigade Commander of the 402 nd Infantry Brigade together with the Commanding Officers of the 29IB and 23IB; and other PPOC member agencies.

Among the highlights during the PPOC Meeting was the turn-over of Chairmanship of the PPOC Chairperson to the newly elected Governor of Agusan del Norte, Hon Dale Corvera. Col Licudine, the 402 nd Infantry Brigade presented a Memento to the outgoing governor who
is also the newly elected Representative of 1 st District of this province in recognition for her contribution and sterling partnership with the Philippine Army in Caraga.

In his statement, Col Licudine said, “We thank Governor Matba for her invaluable support to the Philippine Army. She brought Agusan del Norte to new heights especially in the government’s counter insurgency campaign such as the creation of Peace and Development Zone and her all out support to the government’s integration program for Former Rebels being the first province in Caraga who distributed the E-CLIP Assistance in CY 2019”.

“The Whole of Nation Approach has been the game changer in uniting all stakeholders and different agencies to counter the insurgency problem. The communist insurgency will soon end as long as we continue our work to bring development and address issues in the conflict affected areas and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. We reiterate our call to the remaining CPP-NPA Terrorist to avail the E-CLIP and choose to live peacefully with their families. The Army will continue to be relentless in combatting insurgency to bring peace and development in the communities.

The 23 FRs are composed of four (4) FRs who voluntarily surrendered to 29IB, thirteen (13) FRs from 23IB, and six (6) from the PNP.
