Crusades vs. Red groups to continue: AFP

From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 27, 2019): Crusades vs. Red groups to continue: AFP

A ranking official of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) on Saturday said he will continue to challenge militant groups linked to the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) to denounce the atrocities committed by the organization.

Maj. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, also dared these groups to accept his challenge to debate on the issue.

"I will continue to challenge you to condemn NPA atrocities until you wither becauseI know you won't do that, especially you Teddy Casino and other scholars sent by Bayan and the CPP-NDF (National Democratic Front) to college. I will continue to challenge Kamatayan (Makabayan) bloc to attend the series of Congressional Inquiries on Salugpongan, and Alcadev (Alternative Learning Center for Agriculture and Livelihood Development) until you are forced to answer the indigenous people why you have destroyed their families with these communist schools you used to train rebels," Parlade said.

"Don't evade this important chance for you to answer and be heard because the people are not stupid," he added.

Parlade was reacting to claims of militant groups that the NTF ELCAC official is sounding like a broken record for constantly airing his allegations against them.

He said he will continue with his crusade until private media outlets will print the government's response to the groups' claims.

"I will not cease until probably your friends from the broadsheets will print our responses, in the spirit of 'balance news and of fearless views'. I will not stop until these papers stop ignoring government views," he said.

The military official added that he will be relentless until the entire country is aware of the NDF's exploitation and deception.

"Yes, Kamatayan (Makabayan) bloc I will not stop rattling like a broken record, until the entire nation is roused from sleep after 46 years of NDFs exploitation and deception. Did you read about how NDF admitted how you all contributed to the killings in Panay? Did you fall from your seat when you heard NDF Spokesman Concha (Araneta) proudly announce how your underground and legal organizations contributed to the ranks of the CPP and the NPAs? How do you cover that up? By drifting to WPS (West Philippine Sea), China, and other foreign and remote issues?" Parlade said.

He said harassment allegations of so-called progressive groups do not hold water because it is not government policy to harass or attack its critics.

"Like I said, don't run to the Supreme Court because we don't harass or attack you. Replay former NPA Fr. Balweg's video how you attacked and killed civilians, while clad in police or army uniform, after an ambush so that the community will hate and blame government security forces. Just like what you did by bombing and attacking Plaza Miranda, Hacienda Luisita, and Sagay. We can spend weeks watching and scrutinizing all these pieces of evidence, together," he said.

Parlade is confident that in due time, someone will file criminal charges against these organizations from which they cannot wiggle out or get away from.

"In due time someone will slap all of you with a real damning criminal case, not even your foreign lawyer friends and international solidarity allies can defend you. Not by me, maybe not even by the government, but one day the Filipino people will," he said.

The CPP-NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines.
