From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 13, 2019): AFP ready to deploy assets to help address water shortage
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday said it can provide troops and other mobility assets to help in the distribution of water from the source to the recipients should the need arises.
This was disclosed by Col. Noel Detoyato, AFP public affairs office chief, on Wednesday when asked what the military can do to help mitigate the effects of the ongoing water shortage in many areas.
"In the case of the perceived water shortage, the AFP can provide troops and mobility assets that can help facilitate the distribution and transportation of water supply from the source to the recipients when the need arises," Detoyato said in a message to the Philippine News Agency.
On Sunday, Manila Water released an updated list of areas in some parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces that will have little to no water supply in the coming days.
The concessionaire explained that the water supply interruptions are caused by the operational adjustments they are conducting to address the continuous decline of La Mesa Dam’s water level.
Manila Water said service interruptions may persist until the rains come and the water levels in the dam return to normal operating levels.
