The Philippine National Police (PNP), along with members of various religious denominations, is set to conduct a solidarity walk on Sunday, to denounce all form of terror acts.

In a press conference Friday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr., said the event will be held at the Liwasang Aurora, Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC).

“We strongly condemn any type of violence in our society. This solidarity walk, inter-faith prayer rally and peace covenant signing is proof that everyone aims to preserve peace and denounce violence through unity, love and prayers,” Esquivel said.

The program, dubbed “Lakad Tungo sa Kapayapaan, Iwaksi ang Karahasan”, will start with a solidarity walk at about 6 a.m. Sunday to be participated in by Muslims, Christians and other religious sects.

Esquivel said the Muslims will assemble at the University Ave., University of the Philippines-Diliman while the non-Muslims will assemble in front of the PLDT office along East Ave.

At about 8 a.m., the groups will walk and meet inside the QMC and proceed to the Liwasang Aurora for the inter-faith prayer rally and peace covenant signing. Invited guests and visitors will also deliver their messages during the event.

The activity will end with the releasing of white doves as a symbol of peace and unity.
