An alleged “revolutionary tax collector” of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Butuan City, military said.
Identified as Emeliano Bustillo Legayna, with aliases Bukas, Sedoy, Turko and Abba, was nabbed Wednesday, February 13, at Barangay Nongnong during the implementation of a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, said Lt. Col. Francisco L. Molina Jr., commanding officer of the Army’s 23rd Infantry Battalion.
Seized from the suspect were Cal.45 pistol and a hand grenade.
Molina said that Legayna was also identified as liaison, intelligence officer and commanding officer of the Militiang Bayan Butuan West, Guerrilla Front 4A, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
He thanked the concerned citizens in the area for providing the information that led to the rebel officer’s arrest.
