From the Visayan Daily Star (Feb 13, 2019): Murder raps filed vs. NPA suspects
Murder charges have been filed against six suspected New People’s Army rebels for the death of a barangay tanod last month in Brgy. Carol-an, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, the military yesterday said.
1Lt. Revekka Roperos, 303rd Infantry Brigade Civil Military Operations officer, yesterday said the suspects in the killing of Carol-an barangay tanod Cornelio Morales were positively identified as NPA rebels, based on testimonies of eyewitnesses, after being shown pictures of rebels from the police rogues gallery.
Roperos added that the family of the victim will also file a complaint against the NPA murderers before the Commission on Human Rights.
The killing of Morales by six NPA members, armed with M-16 and AK- 47 assault rifles, at the barangay waiting shed, was also witnessed by his daughter and neighbors, Roperos added.
Morales succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, including the fatal one on his head.
