The government troops have heightened their security operations following an explosion in Maguindanao, injuring a paramilitary member, an official said.

Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said member of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary under the 38th Infantry Battalion was slightly wounded when an anti-personnel mine placed near an old nipa house exploded in Sitio Pansol, Barangay Macasampen, Guindulungan town Tuesday, February 12.

“The explosion was meant to inflict harm on troops patrolling the area,” he said.

The official said that personnel from the 90th Infantry Battalion and the Guindulungan Municipal Police immediately responded and secured the area to preempt possible attacks.

The wounded Cafgu member was also rushed to Camp Siongco Station Hospital for medical attention.
