JOLO SULU -- About two-hundred eighty students of Sulu National High School (SNHS) who are victims of the blaze in Jolo last July 24 that gutted hundreds of houses received school supplies/relief items such as Bags, Notebooks, Pens and hygiene kits from the United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) on Tuesday.
The relief operation was conducted by UNYPAD’s Western Mindanao Coordinator Mr. Zulfhikar Samsaraji and assisted by Mr. Tirso Tahir of Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) in distributing the relief items to students at the SNHS campus.

About 3,848 households became victims of the largest blaze in Jolo in recent history according to Jolo Municipal Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Officer.

Mr. Muktar H. Alan, a SNHS teacher and DDRM focal person introduced the visiting Officers and their noble purpose to the students and school faculty.

In his message, Brother Benhar Agga, UNYPAD member that teaches at the SNHS mentioned message of encouragement and briefly informed the attending students about UNYPAD’s mission for the youth.

Another message of encouragement was also delivered by Brother Zulfhikar of UNYPAD who expressed his profoundest gratitude to SNHS School Principal Ma’am Hadja Dulling S, Pintasan, also to SPP-1, SNHS Teachers for facilitating the program; to the students for their warm welcome.

He appealed to the students to value education and prioritize it over other things.

He also encouraged them to study Arabic Education in parallel with secular education. He stressed that it is only education that can guarantee their brighter future, hoping someday they will become successful professionals and responsive leaders in their communities.

In her message, Ma’am Pintasan, in behalf of SNHS conveyed her thanks to UNYPAD and the BLMI officer for the relief/school supplies extended to the fire-affected students.
