From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Sep 5): FIREFIGHT | MBLT-2 recovers firearm as it encountered armed group in Sultan Kudarat
CAMP GONZALO SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao (DWDD) – A high-powered firearms was recovered following a brief encounter with the troops of Marine Battalion “Superstar’ Landing Team-2 (MBLT-2) and Philippine National Police against an armed lawless group on September 3, 2018.
The operating troops were serving an arrest warrant against Tinte Taup for criminal charges on murder and arson at Sitio Basiawan, Barangay Datu Ito Andong in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
Taup and his men, armed with firearms, opened fire at the arresting team which led to a 3-minute encounter. The armed men fled to safer direction trying to evade the government troops.
Taup was able to escape but seized on the scene of the firefight were one M16, magazine, ammunition, 2 handheld radios, and camouflage uniforms.
The joint operating troops are currently scouring the area to relentlessly go after Taup.
Joint Task Force Central Commander, Brig. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana, urged the Marine troops to intensify their search operations against the suspect and his men to prevent them from further creating chaos to the town of Kalamansig. MBLT2 / MCAG
