JANIUAY, Iloilo (DWDD) – Soldiers of the Charlie Squad of the 61st Infantry battalion led by 1LT Eleazar G Poquiz PA encountered more or less ten (10) Communist Terrorists (CNTs) at Barangay Agcarope, Janiuay in Iloilo on September 9, 2018.
The encounter lasted for fifteen (15) minutes then the CNTs withdrew to South West direction.
Troops recovered one (1) Backpack, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), personal belongings of the enemy with high intelligence value.
One (1) wounded CAA (name withheld) was extracted from encounter site via helicopter and was brought Headquarters, 301st Infantry Brigade, but was declared Dead on Arrival (DOA) by attending physician at Pototan District Hospital
One (1) Platoon of the 33rd Division Reconnaissance Company (33DRC) was immediately dispatched to the area for pursuit operation. Engaged troops are still searching the encounter site for possible wounded enemy and war materials.
