2 NPAs killed in Easter clash in Quezon

From the Manila Bulletin (Apr 1): 2 NPAs killed in Easter clash in Quezon

Lopez, Quezon — Two New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists were killed in an encounter with army troopers on Easter Sunday in Barangay San Andres, this town.

The military’s Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) also confirmed that one soldier was wounded in the brief clash between elements of the army’s 85th Infantry Battalion (85IB) and the rebel group yesterday morning.

The band of NPA gunmen retreated deeper into the mountainous forest, leaving behind two of their slain comrades.

Upon retrieving the bodies of the still unidentified fatalities, troopers also collected an M-167 sniper rifle with scope; an AK-47 automatic rifle; a rifle grenade; communication equipment; and personal effects and documents of high intelligence value.

As of press time yesterday afternoon, the SOLCOM said soldiers were still on hot pursuit for the fleeing communist terrorists.
