Two Army boats deployed in Davao Gulf

From the Philippine Information Agency (Dec 27): Two Army boats deployed in Davao Gulf

The military has deployed two gun boats for its operations in Davao Gulf after the Special Forces Regiment Airborne (SFRA) turned over to the Eastern Mindanao Command the two water assets in a ceremony held on Dec. 26.

Lt. General Benjamin Madrigal, Jr., commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command received the units from Brigadier General Ramiro Manuel Rey, commander of the SFRA.

Lt. Gen. Madrigal thanked the military leadership for attending to the need of the command.

He recognized the assault boats as added capability in securing the municipal waters in the area of responsibility, particularly Davao Gulf, to preempt terrorists, piracy and other security threats from using the sea lanes in their terrorist and criminal acts.

Madrigal said the boats, which are manned by Special Forces Riverine troopers, can also be deployed in the conduct of water search and rescue operations.

The joint task force Haribon uses the water assets in its fight against terrorism in the Davao Gulf.
