The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) hereby issues a ceasefire order to the New People’s Army (NPA) which will take effect on:
06:00 p.m. of December 23, 2017 to
06:00 p.m. of December 26, 2017
and
06:00 p.m. of December 30, 2017 to
06:00 p.m. of January 2, 2018
During the indicated periods, all commands and units of the NPA and the people’s militia shall cease and desist from carrying out offensive operations against the armed units and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police and paramilitary forces attached to the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP).
This ceasefire order is being issued in solidarity with the Filipino people’s celebration of traditional holidays.
While the unilateral ceasefire is in effect, all commands and units of the NPA and the people’s militia shall be in full alert and should be ready to repel offensive combat operations, PDT/COPD operations, surveillance and other hostile acts by the GRP’s regular and paramilitary armed forces.
Active self-defense shall be undertaken in the face of clear and imminent danger.
This ceasefire order does not cover the GRP’s death squads.
