From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Sep 4): SUPPORT OUR TROOPS | Wounded soldiers from Marawi receives blessings
CAMP EDILBERTO EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro (DWDD) – A special day to serve those who serve our nation. They leave behind family, forgetting self and foregoing comfort as they do so. But when they get hurt, who will care for them?
We have mostly dealt with evacuees, especially women and children as well as some assistance to the troops serving alongside us and battling in the front lines.
Soldiers, some as young 18 years old, were brought here because of injuries from snipers’ fire, IED explosions, and shrapnel from RPG.
But Sept. 2, an opportunity to minister to the wounded soldiers opened up. Upon the invitation of the Naval Special Operations Group (NavSog) Commander, we mobilized like-minded groups to help us bless the wounded Philippine Navy Marines in Camp Evangelista, CDO:
Ching Lluch of Happy Tent
2. Attie Gaurano of Community Bible Church CDO
The ladies of the NavSog and members of the CMOU-Western Mindanao helped coordinate our entry as well as facilitate distribution.
Part of the program were songs sung by CBC CDO as well as prayers and sharing time by the pastor.
To have visitors come in helps ease the pain of being away from family as they heal from their wounds. The food (Jollibee chicken joy, pizza, fruits, and donuts) prepared was overflowing such that wounded Philippine Army soldiers inside were also given food. A miracle, indeed.
We came to bless but everyone left feeling blessed as well. We will have more of these engagements. Should you like to help, send us a message here. NPAO / MCAG
