From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Jun 7): Legal Team augments EastMinCom
NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) received legal augmentation team from General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on June 6, 2017.
The legal team composed of 10 Military Lawyers made their call with the Commander, EMC and had their integration briefing and meeting with the Command staff. They will form part of the Martial Law Implementation Structure (MILS) which will provide inputs, assessment, recommendations, and assist in capacitating the troops in the conduct of law enforcement and legal procedures of the Martial Law implementation. Their deployment is in accordance with the guidelines of Martial Law Chief Implementor General Eduardo Año, that all actions of the AFP should be in accordance to the rule of law and that no abuse will be committed.
Further, the legal team will be closely coordinating with the Legal Quick Response Teams (QRTs) that will be organized by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, Prosecutors and the Commission on Human Rights.
