Anti-terrorism workshop on

From the Visayan Daily Star (Mar 8): Anti-terrorism workshop on

The resurrected Task Force Leon Kilat, comprising various law enforcement agencies in Negros Oriental, is gathered for a two-day workshop to re-evaluate and strengthen its anti-terror security campaign.

Officials and representatives from the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, the Philippine Navy, other Armed Forces units, and civil authorities like the departments of Environment and Natural Resources and Tourism, were among those attending the workshop.

Lt. Col. Roderick Garcia, commander of the 79 th Infantry Battalion of the Army based in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, said the workshop aims to review the individual tasks and responsibilities of each agency.

It also aims to come up with a common strategic operations plan that would highlight the inter-operability of each agency in a particular situation, specifically on anti-terror threat.

Gov. Roel Degamo had earlier called for the reactivation of Task Force Leon Kilat following another report that the world famous dive destination Apo Island in Dauin, Negros Oriental, was supposedly the target of attacks by the notorious kidnap-for-ransom Abu Sayyaf Group.

The workshop results will be presented today with Degamo, Maj. Gen. Jon Aying, commander of the 3 rd Infantry Division, and Maj. Gen. Oscar Lactao, commander of the AFP's Central Command in the Visayas in attendance.
