Cavalier Anselmo S. Avenido Jr. Chairman of the PMA Alumini Association, Inc. (PMAAAI) said, “Dimalupig Class 1967 adopted President Duterte as an honorary member when he (Duterte) was the mayor of Davao City and again announced the honorary membership of the president to the PMAAAI in 2017 because of his long and harmonious relationship with the military”.

The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) 2017 Alumni Homecoming was attended by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Saturday at the PMA Borromeo field as guest of honor.

This is the second time the President of the Philippines attended the PMA alumni homecoming after then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2004.

Alumni Host Classes are graduates of years ending in 2 and 7. Alumni of Class 1987 was the lead host.

Graduates of class 1967 are the Golden Jubilarians of this year’s alumni homecoming.

Present during the event were their wives or loved ones who awarded them their golden medallion.

Diamond Jubillarians who decided to remain at the grandstand while receiving diamond pins from their loved ones, the 1957 alumni.

Silver Jubillarians who belong to Class 1992 Tanglaw Diwa received silver pins from their wives or loved ones.

Graduates of Sandigan class of 1982 where PDir Benjamin Magalong (ret) belongs to – a former director of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-Cor), has only one remaining alumnus in the Philippine National Police (PNP) who will retire on February 23 – PDir Federico Castro Jr.

Special recognition were also given to the Oldest alumnus, Cav. Delfin Castro of Class 1951 who is now 91 years. The youngest alumnus was Carl Angelo Flores of class 2016.

Special guests were PNP Chief of Staff Rogelio Dela Rosa, Department of National Defense Chief Delfin Lorenzana and AFP Chief Eduardo Manahan.

There were more than 2,000 alumni who attended and a total of 6,000 guests came to the said event.
