DWDD: ISAFP defends Marcelino against illegal drug charges

From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Jan 25): ISAFP defends Marcelino against illegal drug charges

The camp of Marine Lt. Col. Ferdinand Marcelino yesterday defended that he had been conducting intelligence operations when he was caught with his Chinese companion, Yan Yi Shou in Manila last year.

Public Attorney’s Office Chief Persida Acosta proved Marcelino’s assertion of innocence by presenting a certification from Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).

The certification signed by ISAFP Chief Brig. Gen. Ronald Villanueva confirms that Marcelino was conducting surveillance operations against drug syndicates when they were arrested.

Acosta presented the certification to Judge Daniel Villanueva of Manila City Regional Trial Court, Branch 49.

Marcelino and Shou were caught in a drug buy-bust operation by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Group in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
