From InterAksyon (Dec 2): New US envoy Sung Kim arrives

New US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Y. Kim arrived in the country Thursday night saying he was “very eager to get started” and work with the government to strengthen the “very important partnership between our two countries.”
Kim landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Korean Airlines flight EK623 at 10:15 p.m.
The Korean-born diplomat was formerly assigned to the US embassy in Seoul as chief of political-military affairs and also served as political officer in Tokyo.
He was also assigned to Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong before he was named special envoy for the six-party talks and served as US ambassador to the Republic of Korea from 2011 to 2014.
He earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and received a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Law School in Los Angeles in 1985 and a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics.
