From the Sun Star-Manila (Dec 22): Moro rebels set-off IED as Army convoy passes by in Maguindanao

A BLAST occurred along a national highway in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao as a military convoy was passing by the area Thursday morning.

Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) police director Reuben Theodore Sindac said suspected rebels set off an improvised explosive devised in Barangay Satan while a military truck of the 601st Infantry Brigade (IB) is passing through the area.

The military convoy, he said, was heading towards the 6th Infantry Division headquarters in Datu Odin Sinsuat.

No one was hurt in the incident. Sindac said the police and military are conducting post-blast investigation in the blast scene.

Colonel Cirilito Sobejana, 601st IB commander, said the rouge Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) could be behind the attack.

Earlier, BIFF spokesperson Abu Misri Mama said attacks against the military in the area will continue despite the Yuletide holiday.
